These turkey burgers are moist, delicious and can withstand the test of time in your recipe box. Make them in a frying pan on stovetop or fire up the grill for a turkey burger that's sure to be the hit of the party.
In a medium skillet, add 1 tbsp of olive oil and chopped onion and cook over medium heat. Stir onions frequently until they are brown and soft (caramelized). Remove from heat and let cool.
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, caramelized onion, breadcrumbs, gruyere, remaining olive oil, tamari, and garlic powder. Mix well until totally combined.
Form turkey into about 10 patties, 1/2-inch thick each. Use waxed paper between patties for easy stacking. Place patties into refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to cool.
Place patties on grill. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip over and cook an additional 5-10 minutes, or until patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
Remove patties from grill and let rest for several minutes before serving.
