Sweet & Spicy Gluten Free BBQ Sauce Recipe is exactly what it sounds like. It's got a sweet and smokey flavor with a spicy kick, which is exactly what we're looking for this grilling season. And best of all, it's really simple to make, and you know it's 100% gluten free!

  • 1 medium yellow onion quartered
  • 1 6oz can tomato paste
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 3/4 cup dark rum
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp gluten free Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp gluten free liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  1. In a medium saucepan add butter and onion. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until onions soften. Add rum and spices and cook an additional 5 minutes. 

  2. Add all other ingredients. Stir until everything is well combined. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 

  3. Remove onions with spoon and discard. Your sauce is now ready!

Recipe Notes

*Make sure your Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke say "gluten free" on the bottle. You can find them GF and non-GF.
