Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili is a sweet and spicy blend of potatoes, black beans, spices and lean ground turkey. It's super easy to throw together in the slow cooker, and is great for feeding a crowd!

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 sweet potatoes peeled and cut into cubes
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes 28 oz each
  • 2 cans black beans 15 oz each
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tbsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro chopped (optional)
  1. Add olive oil, turkey, and onions to a skillet over medium heat. Cook until meat is browned and onions are caramelized, about 5 minutes. 

  2. Add meat to slow cooker. Add all other ingredients to slow cooker and stir well to combine. 

  3. Cook on HIGH for 4 hours, or LOW for 8 hours. Top with fresh cilantro when serving.
