These Champagne Strawberries are incredibly easy to make, while looking fancy enough to serve for Valentine’s Day or a New Years Eve party! This is an adults only dessert. Made with fresh strawberries soaked in champagne and dipped in sugar, they only take a few minutes of actual prep time because most of the recipe time is just letting them soak.

You can also try adding one of the strawberries to the rim of a champagne flute for a cocktail decoration. This will be your new go-to party dessert! Try them for romantic dinners, a wedding shower, girls night, Mother’s Day, or other festive gatherings.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

EASY to Make – These strawberries look really fancy, but they’re ridiculously easy to make. Perfect for event planning for nights like New Year’s Eve or Valentine’s Day (or galentine’s day)!

Light and Sweet – These are a lighter dessert choice, because they’re not overly sweet or heavy.

Great for Parties – This adults-only treat looks stunning, making it perfect to bring to a party!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Individual ingredients for champagne strawberries on a table.

Strawberries. I’m using a combination of regular and white pineberry strawberries. If you don’t have white strawberries, you can just use the red ones.

I like to keep the green parts on, so people can grab onto them while eating. If you cut them off, I’d put toothpicks out so people can pick them up easily without getting sticky.

Champagne. This ingredient comes down to personal preference. A champagne labeled “Brut” is going to be on the dryer side and less sweet. It does pair nicely with the sweetness from the strawberries and sugar.

If you want something sweeter, try using a sparkling moscato (sweetest option), or a Prosecco.

Sugar. Regular granulated sugar is perfect for this recipe. If you’re making this for New Year’s Eve, you can also add some fun sprinkles.

Kitchen Tools

For this recipe you’ll need a medium sized bowl with a cover (or plastic wrap).

Recipe Variations

  • Instead of coating the strawberries in sugar, after soaking them try dipping them in melted chocolate chips to make chocolate covered strawberries!
  • Try using different sparkling wine varieties like rose, Moscato, or Prosecco.
  • Instead of white sugar, try rolling the strawberries in powdered sugar.
  • For a holiday version, add a dash of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to the sugar mixture.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, use non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider or sparkling grape juice.

Recipe Tip! The longer you soak the strawberries in the champagne, the more flavor they’ll have! If you can do this the night before, that’s even better. Don’t go more than about 12-14 hours, or they’ll get too soft. Store them in the refrigerator while they’re soaking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make champagne strawberries ahead of time?

Yes, these have a really nice flavor when you soak them in the champagne overnight. Make sure to store them in the refrigerator. The next day, pat them dry with a paper towel and dip them in sugar right before serving them, for the best presentation.

Recipe Tip! Make sure you refrigerate your strawberries while they’re soaking. This is for food safety, and also to help the strawberries stay fresh and firm!

Storage

Refrigerate for 2-3 days in an airtight container.

Freeze champagne strawberries for 2-3 months in a freezer-safe container.

If you want to freeze champagne strawberries, I recommend cutting the green tops off and freezing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Once they’re frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag. This prevents them from freezing together in one big cube.

Cooking Tips

  • If you wash the strawberries right before soaking them in champagne, dry them well so you don’t water down the champagne.
  • Make sure the strawberries are fully submerged in the champagne so they soak up as much flavor as possible. They’ll float, but do the best that you can.
  • Pat the berries dry after draining the champagne, or the sugar will be wet instead of the look we’re going for.
  • Make sure the strawberries you’re using are really fresh and firm. They can get a little softer when soaking, and you want to make sure they weren’t soft to begin with.
